About The Position

Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a Linux System Administrator 2 to support the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and performance of mission-critical IT systems. This role focuses on administering Linux-based environments while supporting system reliability, troubleshooting, and operational efficiency across enterprise and secure enclave environments. The Linux System Administrator will work across a range of infrastructure components, collaborating with engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams to ensure systems are properly configured, maintained, and optimized for performance and security.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Systems Administration, with a strong focus on Linux environments
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (or additional experience in lieu of degree)
  • Strong experience with Linux distributions (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and system administration tasks
  • Experience with troubleshooting, system monitoring, and performance tuning in enterprise environments
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation (e.g., Bash) and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible)
  • Security+ Certification required
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants.
  • DoD 8570/8140 compliance (e.g., Security+ CE)
  • This position requires an active Security Clearance with appropriate Polygraph.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support for the implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Linux-based systems
  • Manage daily system operations, including patching, configuration, and updates across server environments
  • Monitor system performance and respond to alerts, outages, and operational issues
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues at both Tier 1 and Tier 2 support levels
  • Administer user accounts, permissions, and access controls across Linux systems
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize system services, storage, and networking components
  • Support system security requirements, including applying patches, maintaining logs, and ensuring compliance with security policies
  • Assist with vulnerability remediation and system hardening activities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve incidents and improve system performance
  • Maintain system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
  • Support system upgrades, deployments, and integration activities across environments
