About The Position

Fairview is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Linen Aide to join the Environmental Services team at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minnesota. The role provides linen service throughout the facility, helping maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients and staff. The Linen Aide collects, distributes, and organizes hospital linens; fills linen carts; responds to requests for clean linen; delivers clean linen; picks up soiled linen; tracks linen usage; and performs other linen-related duties as assigned. This is a casual, as-needed position represented by SEIU Local 113. Shifts are picked up based on departmental needs and availability. Available shifts are 4:00 AM–12:30 PM, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM, and 2:00 PM–10:30 PM.

Requirements

Demonstrated knowledge of basic math, human relations, and effective communication.
High-school-level ability to use technology, including entering orders and utilization information into a computer, tablet, or other handheld device.
Basic ability to read and write in English.
Ability to use a computer and related applications for basic work tasks, including Windows, Outlook, and tablets.
Skill in developing effective rapport with customers, coworkers, or families and actively listening to build positive connections.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate service orientation when working with fellow employees, facility staff, and customers.
Inspect and sort linen received from the laundry, record rejected items, and return them to the laundry.
Remove clean linen from laundry carts, place it in designated areas, and load carts for delivery.
Replenish linen according to established levels and utilization.
Maintain linen closet logs, document unused linen, and report discrepancies between established standards and actual usage.
Keep the linen room clean and orderly.
Cover clean linen while delivering it through the hospital.
Count linen left unused from the previous delivery.
Collect and load soiled linen from facility collection areas into carts and take it to the designated pickup area.
Record linen utilization on a tablet and/or paper, including unused linen from the previous delivery and current linen in the hospital.
Report mechanical or equipment failures and negative conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
Perform other related and miscellaneous duties as required.
