About The Position

As an apprentice lineman you will be taught a very rewarding career in constructing, maintenance, removal and storm restoration of high voltage distribution and transmission lines. Xcel Energy has a very reputable Department of Labor certified apprentice program that is recognized throughout the United States. The position will be responsible for construction, maintenance and operations. Supports maintenance and emergency repairs of distribution and transmission lines.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL Class A) or ability to acquire it within 120 days of start date.
  • Successfully taken the EEI CAST Assessment
  • Totally committed to safety, quality work and customer service
  • Able and willing to respond to after hour and weekend call outs
  • Mentally competent, able to communicate and able to comprehend instructions and build on previous experience
  • Exhibit a teamwork attitude and be able to work with others
  • Of adequate physical stature to Lift and maneuver up to 90 lbs.
  • Able to climb wood poles up to 100' tall.
  • Able to perform aerial work in a safety belt in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Able to use shovels, sledgehammers and 90 lb. jack hammers.
  • Able to work in confined areas.
  • Pass the federal DOT physical examination.
  • Complete all questions in application and upload a resume for consideration.
  • Reside within 20 miles of any of the Amarillo Service Centers.

  • Work in confined areas.
