About The Position

Chances Castlegar is looking for an experienced Line Cook to join our kitchen team. We're looking for someone who is confident working a busy line, can manage their station independently, and takes pride in preparing consistent, quality food. This is a hands-on position for someone who already understands the pace of a professional kitchen and can step into the role ready to contribute.

Requirements

  • Previous line cook or commercial kitchen experience required
  • Ability to remain on your feet and perform the physical requirements of a kitchen position
  • Must be 19 years of age or older
  • Must be eligible to obtain a criminal record clearance through the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a busy restaurant, pub, gaming, or hospitality kitchen is an asset
  • Strong understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen safety
  • Ability to confidently manage a station during busy service
  • Strong attention to food quality, consistency, and portion control
  • Dependable, professional, and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • FoodSafe certification is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, portion standards, and quality expectations
  • Take ownership of your assigned station and ensure it is organized, stocked, and ready for service
  • Keep up with the pace of service during both regular and high-volume periods
  • Maintain consistency in food quality, portioning, presentation, and timing
  • Complete food preparation and ensure ingredients are properly stored, dated, and rotated
  • Monitor food freshness and communicate inventory or product concerns to the kitchen leadership team
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to coordinate orders and keep service moving
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout your shift
  • Follow FoodSafe, health and safety, WHMIS, and company procedures
  • Assist with other kitchen duties as required
