About The Position

Creative Dining Services is seeking a friendly, experienced food service professional to join the line cook team at The College of Wooster. The role prepares food for students using state-of-the-art equipment and technology in an inclusive, professional environment. The first shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with every other weekend off. The position offers paid holidays, training and advancement opportunities, and time off between semesters during the winter holidays.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 2 years of cooking experience.
Effective communication skills.
Reliability.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Ability to multitask.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Prepare food according to established recipes and menus while preserving freshness, quality, and appeal.
Use batch-cooking techniques to avoid overproduction or underproduction.
Maintain established logs, including food, cooling, cooler, and freezer temperatures.
Monitor kitchen equipment and promptly report any problems to a supervisor.
When required by the shift, open or close the kitchen, including securing doors and areas and turning essential equipment on or off.
Hold prepared food at appropriate temperatures: below 40°F for cold food and above 135°F for hot food.
Store food according to established practices, including proper labeling and dating.
Communicate food-production and kitchen-operation needs or concerns to a supervisor promptly and appropriately.
