About The Position

Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a Line Cook to join their team! The Line Cook will work under the direction of the Sous Chef to prepare food for the café/restaurant, patient meals, and catering events. This position will also be responsible for preparing grilled or sautéed items for café customers and patients. Idaho Falls Community Hospital is dedicated to providing compassionate, emergency care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with a state-of-the-art Emergency Department, a stroke and diagnostic cardiac center, and a trauma center. Requirements

  • High school graduate (or equivalent)
  • Food Handler’s Permit (required within 30 days of employment)
  • Minimum 3 years food-service cooking experience required

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the preparation and service of food for café/restaurant customers, patients, daily specials, and special functions.
  • Use food safety techniques in accordance with FDA and Health Department standards, including proper hand washing, temperature monitoring and recording, and proper storage and handling techniques.
  • Prepare quality food that meets taste and appearance standards from standardized recipes, making only appropriate and/or approved substitutions.
  • Plate and display food to create an appealing presentation.
  • Prepare food for delivery within a timely manner, according to department policy and procedures.
  • Be proficient in food preparation skills, handling a minimum of 15 tickets in 15 minutes.
  • Show and maintain a sense of urgency when performing tasks.
  • Show proper and fluent knife skills including cutting, maintenance, and cleaning.
  • Prepare back stocks to meet patient and customer orders in a timely manner and maintain sufficient levels of stock for all meals during shifts.
  • Ensure items are prepared daily and up to established par values, dated with appropriate expiration dates, and expiring items are pulled and waste is logged appropriately.
  • Pull needed items from the freezer in adequate time to allow product to thaw using proper thawing methods.
  • Maintain stock levels of station and refill/prep as needed.
  • Prepare any caterings in an adequate time frame for the food and supplies to be set up prior to the event start time.
  • Participate in maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and café facilities.
  • Use the daily and deep cleaning assignment schedules according to the set requirements of the hospital, District Health Dept, State of Idaho and Food & Drug Administration.
  • Maintain equipment utilized in a clean, safe, and sanitized condition.
  • Assist any other area of the kitchen or café with tasks as needed.
  • Participate in the maintenance of department records.
  • Record hot and held food and refrigeration temperatures in temperature logs according to department procedures and policy.
  • Use daily production records, recording amounts of prepared food and leftovers to assist in planning appropriate food quantities.
  • Participate in continued education, training and maintenance of Food Handlers’ Permits.
  • Maintain current Food Handlers’ Permit.
  • Complete the standard Idaho Falls Community Hospital (IFCH), Nutritional Services Department and position-specific Health Stream educations in a timely manner.
  • Participate in intra and interdepartmental meetings.
  • Participate in a short Huddle meeting under the direction of the Head Chef and/or Nutritional Services Manager to review important information which is held as needed.
  • Attend regularly scheduled Nutritional Services staff meetings.
  • Check emails regularly for any updates/changes throughout the week - abiding by hospital policy of checking email a minimum of twice per week.
