LIM (Liquid Injection Molding) Set Up Technician

About The Position

Sets up and/or tends to molds for press machines according to job travelers and production needs. Performs sample runs before releasing work to the press operator and inspects and cleans molds before and after production runs. The technician performs operations involving liquid injection presses, tooling, and supporting equipment; works with Engineering and Maintenance to improve tooling and equipment uptime; and applies LEAN methodology to support continual improvements in processes and product quality. The role may also involve creating SOPs and work instructions and training others as needed.

Requirements

Basic reading and writing skills.
Computer knowledge is necessary.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of the plastics and/or rubber industry.
Minimum of 5 years as a press operator.
Minimum of 1 year as a set-up technician, with demonstrated critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated hands-on skills and mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

Perform operations and functions for liquid injection presses, tooling, and supporting equipment.
Read job travelers to determine molding specifications and tooling instructions.
Pull required molds from storage.
Inspect molds for defects and cleanliness.
Mount, install, and align molds or other work pieces on presses, manually or using a hoist.
Secure molds or other work pieces using basic hand or power tools.
Conduct tests and inspect molds to ensure they are secure and verify part quality.
Perform sample runs before releasing work to the press operator.
Inspect and clean molds before and after production runs.
Create SOPs and work instructions as needed.
Apply LEAN methodology and drive continual improvement of processes and product quality.
Work closely with Engineering and Maintenance to improve tooling and equipment uptime.
Train others as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
