About The Position

The Oswego County Solid Waste Department has an immediate opening for a Light Operator. The role performs specialized manual tasks related to operating one or more types of light automotive equipment. Work may include skilled use of various tools and equipment, safe and efficient operation of light motor equipment, and other related manual tasks. General instructions are provided, allowing some leeway in execution. Work is performed with minimal direct supervision, and the incumbent performs related duties as required.

Requirements

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma; OR six months of experience in maintenance and repair of bridges or other structures involving similar tools and equipment, general labor, grounds maintenance, or operation of light automotive equipment.
Possession of a valid New York State driver's license at the time of appointment and maintenance of the license throughout employment.

Responsibilities

Perform specialized manual tasks related to operating light automotive equipment.
Use various tools and equipment as needed.
Operate light motor equipment safely and efficiently.
Perform other related manual tasks and duties as required.
