About The Position

The responsibilities of the PIT Mechanic will include routine and preventative maintenance of PIT equipment throughout the facility. This role involves maintaining facility PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) equipment such as AGVs, lift trucks, tuggers, electric pallet jacks, articulating lifts, scissor lifts, single-man lifts, and floor scrubbers. The mechanic will perform routine PMs and repairs, document work, and manage lift truck hour meter readings. Responsibilities also include maintaining the lift truck battery station, performing PMs on batteries, inspecting PPE cabinets, and serving as an attendant for battery changes. The role requires collecting and reviewing daily pre-drive inspection sheets, reporting issues to the supervisor, maintaining spare parts, and assisting other maintenance personnel as needed. Cross-training in departmental processes is expected, along with strict adherence to job safety procedures, utilizing necessary PPE, and complying with SMS and corporate policies.

Requirements

  • High school education, or its equivalent.
  • At least two (2) years of post high school education, or its equivalent, in an industrial maintenance related field.
  • At least one (1-2) years experience in an industrial environment or mechanical background.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Actively participate in the PRIDE process.
  • Must be able to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required.
  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for eight (8) to twelve (12) hours.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, lift, carry and reach occasionally.
  • Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds frequently.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain facility PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) equipment: AGVs, lift trucks, tuggers, electric pallet jacks, articulating lifts, scissor lifts, single-man lifts, and floor scrubbers.
  • Perform routine PMs and repairs on PIT equipment and document.
  • Document weekly lift truck hour meter readings in shared spreadsheet.
  • Maintain lift truck battery station housekeeping.
  • Perform routine PMs on PIT equipment batteries, including cleaning, checking water levels, and filling to the correct level.
  • Perform daily inspection PM on the battery station chain hoist, gantry, and battery lifting beam.
  • Perform daily inspection of battery station PPE cabinet and restock as needed.
  • Serve as attendant for battery changes at the battery station.
  • Collect, review, and file daily pre-drive inspection sheets.
  • Review sheets for completion, reported problems, and comments.
  • Report problems or concerns to the supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain spare parts and send out parts for repair and/or reconditioning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with repair tasks as needed.
  • Cross train to become familiar with all departmental processes in the facility.
  • Comply with job safety procedures, utilizing necessary PPE.
  • Perform all job duties using safe work methods.
  • Comply with procedures found in SMS.
  • Comply with Corporate Absenteeism and Tardiness Policy.
  • Work normally scheduled days adhering to starting and stopping times.
  • Assist other Maintenance personnel as needed.
