About The Position

The Lift Truck Operator is responsible for moving materials within the facility, recording storage locations, completing daily check sheets, and managing shipping materials. This role also involves operating a floor sweeper, assisting with inventory, changing lift truck batteries, maintaining a clean work environment, operating a baler, and performing other assigned duties safely. The position requires the ability to read, write, and perform basic math, pass vision and color blindness tests, be familiar with computer systems, and operate a lift truck after training. Physical requirements include frequent mounting and dismounting of the lift truck, adequate depth perception, tolerance for temperature and humidity changes, lifting up to 50 pounds, and sitting for extended periods. Compliance with safety regulations is mandatory, and an annual recertification program must be completed.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to perform basic reading, writing, and math.
  • Must be able to pass a color blindness and vision test.
  • Must be familiar with current computer systems and software.
  • Must be able to operate a lift truck once trained.
  • Must be able to mount and dismount lift truck up to 100 times a day.
  • Must have adequate depth perception.
  • Must be able to withstand changes in temperature and humidity.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit for 12-hours a day.
  • Must complete a yearly LTO recertification program.
  • Must comply with all required OSHA, SAFE, and plant specific safety rules and regulations.

  • Previous experience operating powered industrial machinery for 12+ months

Responsibilities

  • Moving materials from manufacturing lines or storage locations to WIP areas or other assigned areas.
  • Recording storage locations on the interplant transfer (IPT) next to appropriate product numbers.
  • Daily completion of lift truck check sheets.
  • Remove, collect and properly dispose of shipping materials including pallets, straps, cardboard, and bolsters.
  • Strap and package finished goods and work in process (WIP) as needed.
  • Operate floor sweeper when needed.
  • Assist with performing inventory cycle counts as needed.
  • Changing lift truck or other PIT batteries as needed.
  • Assist in keeping the entire facility clean.
  • Performing the duties of other LTO’s when necessary.
  • Maintaining a neat and orderly work space.
  • Operate baler in recycling of raw materials.
  • Safely complete other assigned duties as needed.
