Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or its equivalent AND four (4) years of related experience performing maintenance and general operations work in a field related -OR- Two (2) year Associate's degree with two (2) years of related work in a field related -OR- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with one (1) year of related work in a field related
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience (lead worker or acting in a supervisory capacity may be counted)
  • A valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the maintenance operation and repair of the mechanical lift station, vacuum sewer, S.T.E.P., and low-pressure systems
  • Class C, B, or A State of Florida Collection Certification
  • Class A CDL

Responsibilities

  • Lead, schedule, and supervise the maintenance and repair of lift stations, STEP and low-pressure sewer systems, vacuum sewer systems, reclaimed water distribution systems, and wastewater collection infrastructure
  • Coordinate daily and weekly work activities to ensure safe, efficient, and timely completion of maintenance operations
  • Inspect maintenance and repair activities to verify quality, effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Train, mentor, and develop staff on equipment operation, maintenance practices, safety procedures, and departmental processes
  • Manage employee scheduling, resource allocation, and work assignments to maximize operational efficiency
  • Procure parts, materials, and equipment necessary to support maintenance and repair activities
  • Review and process work orders, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, bid specifications, and other operational documents
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to meet service level expectations
  • Monitor vehicle and equipment usage, condition, and maintenance needs to ensure operational readiness
  • Oversee contractor performance and ensure compliance with County standards, safety requirements, and applicable regulations
