About The Position

The purpose of this position is to operate, maintain and repair Wastewater Lift stations throughout the City of McAllen and City of Alton. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work and is responsible for generating daily reports and record keeping on equipment and material used in the Collection Department. Decision-making is on a routine level. Work involves lifting 40 to 50 lbs. or more in the installation, maintenance and repair of equipment such as pumps, motors, electrical equipment, portable pumps, generators, diesel and gas engines, air compressors, blowers, automatic valve actuators, valves, sluice gates and ventilation equipment. This job works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 40 to 50 lbs. or more.
  • Experience in installation, maintenance and repair of equipment such as pumps, motors, electrical equipment, portable pumps, generators, diesel and gas engines, air compressors, blowers, automatic valve actuators, valves, sluice gates and ventilation equipment.
