About The Position

The Lift Operator provides safe and efficient chairlift transportation for resort guests. The role requires outstanding customer service, verifying RFID passes, and instructing guests through the maze. Operators assist with safe loading and unloading, stop or slow the lift when needed for guest safety, answer questions about the resort, and maintain records. The work takes place outdoors and may involve variable schedules, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. This is a seasonal position paying $13.00.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Excellent communication skills and reasoning ability.
• Ability to withstand inclement weather and cold environments and to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to adhere to safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to move or lift heavy objects using appropriate techniques (50+ lbs.).
• Good communication and recordkeeping skills.

Nice To Haves

• Valid driver’s license and approved driving record.
• Previous experience in Ski Lift Operations.
• Working knowledge of mountain operations.
• Work over 20 or more hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Assist guests with safely loading and unloading the lift, stopping or slowing it as necessary for guest safety.
• Answer guest questions using familiarity with Massanutten’s layout, products, services, and current conditions, or refer guests to someone who can help.
• Develop and maintain required and appropriate records, and notify a supervisor of problems.
• Maintain load and unload ramps around lift stations by shoveling and/or raking snow.
• Check that signage is properly in place.
• Verify RFID passes and instruct guests through the maze.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
