About The Position

The Lift Operator provides safe and efficient transportation for guests on the chairlift and delivers outstanding customer service. The role includes verifying RFID passes, directing guests through the maze, and helping guests load and unload safely. Operators work outdoors in varying conditions and maintain lift-station ramps, signage, and required records. This is a seasonal position working over 20 hours per week, with days and hours varying, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Compensation is $13.00.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Outstanding customer service.
• Excellent communication skills and reasoning ability.
• Ability to work outdoors at a fast pace.
• Ability to withstand inclement weather and cold environments and to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to adhere to safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to move or lift heavy objects using appropriate techniques (50+ lbs.).
• Good communication and recordkeeping skills.

Nice To Haves

• Valid driver’s license and approved driving record.
• Previous experience in ski lift operations.
• Working knowledge of mountain operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist guests with safely loading and unloading the lift, stopping or slowing it as necessary for guest safety.
• Answer guest questions using knowledge of Massanutten’s layout, products, services, and current conditions, or refer questions to someone who can help.
• Develop and maintain required and appropriate records and notify a supervisor of problems.
• Maintain load and unload ramps around lift stations by shoveling and/or raking snow.
• Check that all signage is properly in place.
• Verify RFID passes and instruct guests through the maze.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
