About The Position

The Chickahominy Family YMCA is seeking part-time enthusiastic community members to help save lives and ensure the safety of patrons at our pool. We are looking for certified lifeguards or swimmers who are interested in becoming lifeguards. The YMCA will certify qualified candidates. This is a part-time position.

Requirements

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Current CPR and AED for Professional Rescuers certification.
• First Aid certification.
• Either American Red Cross, YMCA or Ellis Lifeguard certification.
• Meet basic swim requirements if not already certified.

Nice To Haves

• Oxygen Administration (O2) certification is preferred but not required upon hire (must obtain within 30 days of hire).

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safety of our members and program participants.
• Communicate verbally, including projecting voice across a distance.
• Hear and respond to noises and distress signals.
• Observe all areas of the pool area.
• Be knowledgeable in emergency procedures set forth by the YMCA of Greater Richmond.
