About The Position

No problem—we provide training for the right candidates. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the Ellis Lifeguard Certification course.

Requirements

• At least 16 years old
• Lifeguard, CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications (or willingness to obtain—training provided)
• Ability to stay alert, focused, and professional at all times
• Strong customer service mindset and communication skills
• Physically able to perform all lifeguard duties, including water rescues
• Reliable and committed to maintaining certification standards

Responsibilities

• Open the pool on time and set the tone for a positive, welcoming environment
• Greet members and create a friendly, respectful atmosphere
• Monitor all swimmers to ensure safety and enforce pool rules
• Support lap swim operations, including organizing lanes as needed
• Communicate clearly with participants about classes and pool procedures
• Respond quickly and professionally to any incidents or emergencies
• Assist with fun and engaging aquatic programs and events
• Promote YMCA programs and connect members to opportunities
• Attend staff meetings and ongoing trainings
• Secure the pool area at the end of your shift unless properly relieved
