About The Position

This position serves as a lifeguard for outdoor pool work under the direction of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Aquatics Program Manager or MWR supervisor. The lifeguard is responsible for employing safety rules for the protection of pool guests, rescuing swimmers, and administering first aid as required. The role also involves attending safety training, assisting in maintaining the pool and surrounding areas, and informing swimmers about safety rules and procedures. The lifeguard will tactfully warn patrons who disregard safety rules and may ask them to leave the facility if they do not conform to policy. For rented parties, the functions will not exceed fifty persons. The lifeguard will also maintain accurate daily logs and records, and properly account for any cash collected.

Requirements

Must possess and maintain the following certifications: Lifeguard (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis); American Red Cross " Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent (i.e. Star or Ellis); First Aid
Must be able to communicate in English (both verbally and in writing).
Persons must be at least 16 years old to apply.
Must be available from Mid-May through Labor Day.

Responsibilities

Serves as a lifeguard for outdoor pool work under the direction of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Aquatics Program Manager or MWR supervisor.
Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
Responsible for life guarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility.
Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required.
Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed.
Assists in maintaining pool and keeping all areas clean and free from any hazards.
Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures.
Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules, and do not follow facility Standard Operating Procedures.
Maintains accurate daily logs and records as required.
Cash collected will be properly accounted for and the paperwork maintained correctly.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
