About The Position

The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of pool users, responding to emergencies, and maintaining the aquatic area. This role involves regular inspections, reporting maintenance concerns, enforcing pool rules, and educating participants on aquatic safety policies. The Lifeguard may also assist with swim lessons or exercise classes and is responsible for conducting chemical tests and maintaining accurate records.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Currently certified as a Lifeguard by the American Lifeguard Association (ALA) or Star Guard Elite required.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Guard the safety of pool users and respond to emergencies.
  • Inspect aquatic areas regularly and report all maintenance concerns and incidents of worn equipment.
  • Explain pool rules and ensure the safety of those using the aquatic area by remaining vigilant and be ready to respond to emergency situations.
  • Enforce policies; educate participants about aquatic safety policies for all aquatic areas.
  • Assist the instruction of swim lessons or exercise classes as training allows.
  • Report all incidents and injuries per department regulations.
  • Conduct chemical tests and maintain accurate water test records and attendance records in accordance with health department regulations.
