Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is seeking a per diem Life Support Educator. This role functions as a leader in all components of American Heart Association (AHA) courses (ACLS/BLS/PALS/PEARS). The primary responsibilities include lecturing on required AHA class content, initial mega code demonstrations, group control skills, proficiency with life support clinical and medical devices, setting up and using educational presentation tools, creating and leading case-based scenarios, skills instruction and evaluation, practice and remediation stations, and written examinations. The educator will also be responsible for understanding and applying the educational philosophy of Life Support Education and Outreach, and relevant policies and procedures for conducting AHA courses. Travel to community and Ambulatory sites is required, and evening and weekend availability is necessary as needed. The role also involves financial stewardship by ensuring educational programming is efficient and cost-effective, and providing education to external students and contracted clients. In terms of clinical excellence, the educator will teach in Life Support programs for staff, assure competence for changes in practice, and revise and implement Life Support Education in collaboration with the team. For professional engagement, the educator will support clinical advancement and career coaching by mentoring AHA instructors. In advancing practice, the educator will collaborate with other departments to provide Life Support Education and ensure alignment with regulatory expectations. For innovation and learning, the educator will apply evidence-based practice to educational program planning and implementation.
