Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
Appropriate valid teaching certification if required by the client agency.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in a related area preferred.
Relevant teaching and/or counseling experience in a correctional setting preferred.
We would prefer someone with a Bachelor's degree in a related area as well as relevant teaching and/or counseling experience in a correctional setting.

Responsibilities

Providing general classroom guidance for career planning, social adjustment, life skills, and personal management.
Defining terminology and identifying community resources to explain the reality of pre-release activities and plans to inmates.
Reviewing curriculums and resources available to enhance inmates' participation in pre-release/life skill programs and activities.
Assessing inmates’ needs and referring them to appropriate staff.
Helping inmates in planning and developing an individual post-release plan and encouraging them to assume the responsibility for post-release behaviors and activities.
