About The Position

This position provides instructional support to students under the direction of a teacher, focusing on elementary-level life skills. The role involves working with individual students or small groups, assisting with instructional materials, and supporting classroom management. The paraprofessional will also participate in staff development and maintain positive communication with colleagues and supervisors.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively
Some experience working with children

Responsibilities

Provide instruction to students under the direction of teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
Offer inclusion support to teacher and students.
Supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
Maintain confidentiality.
Maintain positive and effective communications and relationships with supervisors and colleagues.
Assume bus driving duties as assigned.
Assume bus riding / monitoring duties as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
