About The Position

The Institute for the Redesign of Learning (IRL) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Adult Instructor for its Transitions & Adult Services team in South Pasadena. This part-time position is 25 hours per week and focuses on helping adult clients build independence and life skills through instruction and community experiences. The role involves teaching in classroom and community settings, supporting clients individually and in groups, and working collaboratively with a mission-driven team.

IRL is a community-based provider of special education, mental health, job development, and training services for people with special needs, from infancy through adulthood. The organization describes its approach as supporting individuals in taking charge of their learning through individualized curricula and appropriate support and enrichment services.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Spanish speaking.
• Experience or interest in working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Strong communication and technology skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and Zoom.
• Valid California driver’s license.
• Auto insurance with $100,000/$300,000 liability coverage.
• Clean background.
• CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree or college coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach daily living and vocational skills in classroom and community settings.
• Provide individualized and group instruction, supervision, and support.
• Transport clients to volunteer sites and community activities.
• Track and report client progress using Google Drive and Class Dojo.
• Collaborate with the team and adjust to evolving program needs.
