About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Forest Falls, CA Details: In-Person Tutoring in Forest Falls, CA Schedule: 25 hours per month, 1 session a week for 2 hours Pay range from $25-35 per hour Why Tutor Me Education? Requirements

  • Experience working with young adults with intellectual disabilities and memory challenges
  • Background supporting Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), including self-regulation, communication, and confidence-building
  • Experience teaching functional academics, including practical reading and basic math skills
  • Skilled in adapting instruction toward real-life applications and independence-focused learning
  • Patient, supportive, and encouraging, with the ability to build trust and rapport
  • Experience helping students transition to adulthood programs or life skills settings
  • Creative in incorporating student interests into lessons to increase engagement
  • Comfortable conducting an academic/functional assessment to guide instruction
  • Strong understanding of routine-building and independence development strategies

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an initial tutor assessment to determine current functional academic and SEL skill levels
  • Provide instruction focused on social-emotional learning, including self-regulation, communication skills, and coping strategies
  • Support development of independence and confidence for participation in a day program
  • Teach functional reading skills, including comprehension of real-life materials (e.g., forms, instructions, manuals)
  • Provide basic math instruction with a focus on practical, everyday applications
  • Support preparation for obtaining a driver’s license, including reading comprehension of driver’s manual content and test-related instructions
  • Gradually shift focus from traditional academics to life skills, routines, and independence-building
  • Incorporate structured routines and consistent reinforcement to support memory and retention
  • Integrate student interests (e.g., Pokémon, video games, basketball, mountain biking) into sessions to increase motivation and engagement
  • Provide a supportive, structured environment that promotes independence and real-world skill application
  • Share progress updates with caregivers and adjust goals as needed
