About The Position

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Lynwood, CA! If you're committed to making a difference in the lives of students with special needs and helping them achieve academic success, we want to hear from you! As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Lynwood, CA.

Requirements

  • Fluent in both English and Spanish (required)
  • Experience working with students with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, and Speech/Language Impairments
  • Strong understanding of functional academics and transition-age student support
  • Skilled in teaching practical math concepts, money management, and real-world problem-solving
  • Experience supporting reading fluency and reading comprehension using functional materials
  • Familiarity with executive functioning instruction, including organization, planning, and task completion
  • Patient, supportive, and structured with a practical, real-world teaching approach
  • Comfortable adapting instruction to promote independence and confidence in daily living skills
  • Strong communication and rapport-building skills with neurodiverse learners
  • Able to create engaging, life-skills–based learning activities and supports

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized instruction in functional academic skills focused on independence and daily living
  • Teach practical math concepts including money management, budgeting, real-life calculations, and problem-solving
  • Support reading fluency and comprehension using functional texts such as schedules, forms, menus, and instructions
  • Reinforce executive functioning skills including organization, planning, sequencing, and task completion
  • Create structured lessons that connect academic skills to real-world applications and community participation
  • Use visual supports, modeling, repetition, and guided practice to reinforce understanding
  • Maintain a supportive and encouraging learning environment that builds confidence and independence
  • Adapt instruction to meet the student’s communication and processing needs
  • Conduct an assessment if needed to help guide instruction and identify skill gaps
  • Collaborate with caregivers and support teams to ensure consistency and meaningful progress
