About The Position

The purpose of the position of the Life of Mine Planner is to be responsible for the long term (12 months to LOM) mine planning to maximise profit for the Sugar Zone Mine Site.

Requirements

  • Life of mine plan for the Sugar Zone Mine and addition ore bodies as they are identified is kept up to date.
  • Deswick model up to date while offsite by communicating with the survey department and other engineering department members.
  • Optimal budget and LOM physical schedules as per corporate guidance.
  • Most accurate long term schedule for the period beyond the current budget year and present to each mine site within SLR.
  • Design infrastructure and forecast equipment and capital requirements for associated infrastructure.
  • Conceptual studies on new ore bodies and/or new areas within SLR.
  • Strategies to optimise mining process with a view to increasing mine production.
  • Monitor the engineering systems and business processes, identify and prioritise improvement opportunities and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems and methods.
  • Coordinate and manage projects within area of accountability, to achieve completion to agreed quality, budget and schedule.
  • Project proposals for submission to UG Manager.
  • Regular review of mine planning processes and investigate, assess and where appropriate, trial new methods or technology.
  • Assist the other engineering team members in the smooth functioning of the engineering department by taking on any additional departmental work that is identified and within your expertise. Some examples could include preparing summary reports on stope overbreak, assimilating data on geotechnical QA/QC, etc.
  • Assist with preparation of End of Month reports.
  • Attend site at the end of each month to complete the 3 month rolling forecast and 1 month plan for the subsequent month.
  • Attend weekly planning meetings while offsite.
  • Train and coach younger mining professionals at Sugar Zone.
  • Prioritise and complete tasks accurately as to specifications as assigned by direct supervisor within required timeframes.
  • Proactively identify and address hazards before they arise as issues and attend engineering meetings while offsite.
  • Undertake other duties as lawfully instructed.
