About The Position

NHC Place Sumner is seeking a Life Enrichment / Recreation Assistant to help provide therapeutic programs that meet each patient's individual needs while creating an atmosphere of fun and enjoyment. The role focuses on delivering daily meaningful activities that enhance residents' quality of life in assisted living, memory care, long-term care, or rehabilitation settings as assigned. The successful candidate is compassionate, caring, creative, energetic, and knowledgeable about wellness domains as they relate to programming in long-term care.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Desire to work with seniors; compassionate, caring, and creative disposition.
Self-motivated, creative, positive attitude, and genuine enthusiasm.
Strong communication and time-management skills.
Ability to work as a team player and with family members, partners, and the community.
Basic typing and computer skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Publisher for preparing monthly calendars, newsletters, and other marketing materials.
Knowledge of wellness domains as they relate to programming in long-term care.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a well-rounded wellness program for long-term care, memory care, or rehabilitation patients as assigned.
Complete assessments, care plans, and associated paperwork in a timely manner.
Ensure programming complies with local, state, and federal guidelines.
Bring fun and enjoyment to residents' activities.
Work alternating weekend and/or holiday hours.
Work with family members, partners, and the community.
Collaborate with other departments to build staff morale.
Perform other duties as assigned.
