About The Position

DuPage County Care Center is hiring a part-time Life Enrichment Aide. The position involves direct contact with residents and providing leisure activities on an assigned basis. It is grant funded and is not eligible for benefits or paid time off.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent General Equivalency Diploma.
Six months of experience in recreation, education, working with seniors, or working with people with developmental disabilities, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
A post-offer physical is required.
A pre-employment background check is required.

Responsibilities

Help proactively determine residents’ leisure needs.
Assist with planning and conducting appropriate unit-based, group, and one-to-one leisure activities.
Help provide communication tools and interventions to meet care plan goals.
Decorate assigned areas for seasons, holidays, and special events to support residents’ physical, social, emotional, and mental well-being.
Provide individualized attention and encouragement to support participation in activities.
Assist with in-house transportation, feeding, hydration, and other personal needs of residents.
Help maintain and store special equipment and supplies for recreational activities.
Document attendance and progress toward goals for individualized resident activities.
Provide interventions, such as leisure engagement activities, to reduce the potential for wandering and behavioral issues.
Participate in fundraising activities directly related to the department.
Participate in facility-wide quality improvement initiatives and projects.
