About The Position

The Licensing Specialist role at Tilt is a contract position focused on managing state license applications and transitions to an in-house system. The role involves specific deliverables such as filing new state license applications, supporting the onboarding of control people, and migrating license management to an internal platform. While no prior compliance background is required, the position demands exceptional organization, reliability, and attention to detail in administrative tasks. The workload is variable, with an intensive initial period followed by ongoing part-time support.

Requirements

  • Exceptional project coordination skills, including managing multiple concurrent workstreams and tracking deadlines across jurisdictions.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write clear instructions for non-specialists.
  • Comfort with a variable workload, with hours ranging from 4-20 per week depending on filing cycles.
  • Background in detail-heavy operational work (e.g., events coordination, government filings, permitting, legal ops).
  • Ability to operate independently as a self-starter, recognize when to escalate issues, and initiate tasks without pre-built processes.
  • No prior licensing or compliance experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end submission of 35 new state license applications, including tracking deadlines, coordinating data requests, and ensuring accuracy across jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate the addition of two new control people to existing licenses, adhering to each state's specific requirements.
  • Assist in transitioning license management from an external platform to an internal system, documenting processes for self-sustainability.
  • Provide ongoing part-time support for annual license renewals and regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Create clear, step-by-step process documentation for board members regarding their licensing obligations, written for non-specialists.
