About The Position

The Oregon Board of Accountancy licenses and regulates about 8,000 certified public accountants, public accountants, municipal auditors, and 1,000 public accounting firms. We protect the public by ensuring applicants meet education requirements, demonstrate professional competence, and complete required continuing education. We are seeking a Licensing Specialist to provide administrative, analytical, and technical support for our licensing program. In this role, you will review applications, evaluate continuing education, support Board committee work, and provide guidance to applicants, licensees, and partners.

Requirements

  • Two years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR An associate degree in general office occupations and one year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Consistent attention to detail and accuracy in work products.
  • Clear, respectful, and professional communication with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to interpret and apply rules, statutes, and documented standards.
  • Skill in analyzing information, identifying issues, and recommending solutions.
  • Customer service skills that support equitable and positive interactions with the public.
  • Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams, and Zoom.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Experience interpreting and applying rules, statutes, and documented standards in a government or licensing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process initial, renewal, reciprocity, and reinstatement applications.
  • Verify documentation, assess eligibility, and recommend licensing decisions.
  • Evaluate continuing education submissions for compliance.
  • Answer questions from applicants, licensees, staff, and the public.
  • Maintain records, process payments, manage mail, and support daily office operations.
  • Assist with rule updates, form revisions, licensing program goals, and administrative research.
  • Provide training and serve as backup for licensing team members.
