About the position
The job overview for the role of Licensing Coordinator at Higher Ground Education is to lead the licensing process for new schools in existing and new markets, ensuring compliance with state licensing guidelines and health and safety regulations. The coordinator will build relationships with school leaders and local licensing officials, conduct audits and internal reviews, respond to licensing requirement audits, and stay updated on changes in licensing requirements. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a state childcare licensing office or similar role, possess excellent communication and writing skills, and have a passion for education reform.
Responsibilities
- Lead the licensing process for new schools in existing and new markets
- Build relationships with school leaders and local licensing officials
- Conduct regular audits and internal reviews to ensure new schools are well prepared for permitting / site inspections
- Respond to licensing requirement audits and work directly with campuses to resolve issues and potential school opening delays
- Meet ambitious deadlines, execute processes, and follow through on all licensing requirements for things like application submission dates, site inspections, staffing & talent qualifications, facilities & building requirements, health & safety regulations
- Stay apprised of changes in licensing requirements for key markets and provide research and guidance on state and local regulations for new school developments
- Lead small and large group trainings on topics related to talent qualification, health & safety
Requirements
- Previous experience working within a state childcare licensing office or similar role
- 1+ years' experience in a school leader role in a licensed childcare or preschool or similar experience
- Ability to own complex projects independently and meet deadlines
- Excellent writing skills, particularly related to developing processes and guidelines
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships outside the organization
- Customer service mentality and positive outlook
