About The Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse contributes to Cardinal Health Nursing by being responsible for the delivery of safe and efficient quality nursing care. This role involves examining patients and administering prescribed medications to facilitate healing and increase comfort. The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) supports the registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or physician in the provision of patient care, including delivering patient care, collecting ongoing patient responses to care, and patient education. This position is located at the CARE Cancer Center in Fresno, CA. Initially, the role will support a project with a schedule of four 10-hour shifts (11 am-9 pm) with Wednesdays off. After the project concludes, the schedule will transition back to five 8-hour shifts.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Possess a valid LVN license.
IV/Blood Draw Certified.
Ability to work a flexible schedule as necessary.

Nice To Haves

1-2 years in an oncology setting highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Record patient vital signs: pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height.
Administer medications to patients and monitor progress throughout treatment.
May administer injections or give treatments under the direction of a physician.
Schedule or perform clinical procedures as directed.
Prepare exam rooms for patient visits.
Gather patient information and keep records updated with relevant data.
Maintain effective communication with medical personnel, patients, and patients' families.
Treat wounds and change wound dressings.
Collect samples from patients, including blood and urine.
May also assist in performing some lab work.
Ensure regular attendance and punctuality.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Ensure that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.
Perform any other functions as required by management.
