About The Position

Longhorn Village, voted Best of Austin in 2022, is a not-for-profit retirement community offering independent living and a full continuum of on-site care, including assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation. We are seeking a candidate with a strong positive attitude toward customer service to act as an LVN for our assisted living facility. This person will have a genuine interest in geriatric care and be able to motivate while maintaining relationships with staff and residents. The right candidate will always strive to do the best job possible, to be creative, and to work towards accomplishing facility goals.

Requirements

  • State of Texas license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
  • Must be able to evaluate and make decisions in emergency situations.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, governmental agencies/personnel and the general public in all circumstances.
  • Must be able to push a minimum of 200 lbs and be able to push such weight a minimum distance of 200 ft.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to residents in a 24-hour operation.
  • Delegate and supervise the care provided by nursing assistants.
  • Administer medications, perform treatments and procedures, and obtain specimens as needed.
  • Complete documentation as required.
  • Regularly exercise independent judgment and discretion in assisting in the daily operation of the nursing department.
  • Provide daily supervision to assigned staff.
  • Assess residents on a regular basis for nursing needs and complete required record keeping forms/charts within LVN licensure standards.
  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Life, family/social activities and actively promote independent life-style of residents.
  • Respond to residents' call system promptly and courteously.
  • Supervise the care provided by nursing assistants.
