About The Position

This position is for a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) at the Heart & Lung Surgical Specialists Clinic. The role involves delivering care to patients using the LVN Process, triaging patient calls, and communicating with providers. The LVN will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care for selected patient populations and their families, with a focus on cardiology. Responsibilities include collecting patient data, preparing patient records, administering prescribed medications, monitoring treatment progress, and performing other assigned duties. The clinic environment is described as fast-paced, multi-provider, and rewarding, with a focus on collaborative teamwork, compassion, and empathy towards patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse (required)
  • Accredited School of Practical Nursing Program (required)
  • ACLS or BCLS Upon Hire (required)
  • Experience working alongside RNs, surgery schedulers, and referral coordinators
  • Comfort with prior authorizations or insurance coordination
  • Rooming patients, vitals/clinic flow support experience
  • Knowledge of basic nursing processes and understanding of healthcare technology, equipment, and supplies
  • Knowledge of state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures
  • Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and composure
  • Ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations
  • Maintain a positive, caring attitude towards staff and patients
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism
  • Efficient time management skills

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year LVN experience (preferred)
  • Surgical specialty experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the LVN Process
  • Triage patient calls and communicates with the provider
  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care provided to selected patient populations and their families.
  • Performs specific nursing care as it relates to specialty of cardiology.
  • Collects patient data such as vital signs, notes how the patient looks and acts or responds to stimuli and reports this information accordingly.
  • Prepares patient records and files using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
  • Administers certain prescribed medications and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
