About The Position

BEAM LLC (Behavioral Emotional and Academic Mentoring) is dedicated to supporting students' health and well-being by providing high-quality school-based healthcare services. We collaborate with school districts to ensure students have access to the medical care they need to thrive academically and socially. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to support students' healthcare needs in a school setting. The LVN will work closely with school personnel, healthcare providers, and families to ensure the safety and well-being of students requiring medical care during school hours.

Requirements

  • Current California LVN license in good standing.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school staff, students, and families.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to document medical care accurately.
  • Must maintain active Professional Liability Insurance
  • Must pass a background check and TB test
  • Reliable transportation and ability to commute to assigned school sites

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a pediatric, school, or community health setting preferred.
  • Experience with special education students or those requiring medical interventions in school settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Diabetes monitoring, including blood sugar testing and insulin administration.
  • Catheterization, gastrostomy tube feeding, oral suctioning, and other specialized procedures as needed.
  • Administering prescribed medications and providing ventilator-dependent care.
  • Screen students for health conditions (e.g., lice, fever, vomiting) and communicable diseases requiring exclusion from school.
  • Assist with general health office management, including documentation and immunization record maintenance.
  • Clean medical equipment and maintain the health office in an orderly manner.
  • Follow the instructions of the school administration and as required by law.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to maintain discipline and encourage positive behavior in the classroom and during school activities.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure health and safety policies are understood and followed.
  • Supervise students during health-related activities and ensure their medical needs are met for field trips.
  • Assist students with physical needs, including the use of wheelchairs, crutches, or other mobility aids.
  • Provide toileting assistance and diapering for students as required.
  • Actively contribute to a safe and inclusive school environment by addressing student health needs promptly and professionally.
  • Assist with first aid and minor nursing duties as required.
  • Attend training sessions, workshops, and staff meetings to remain current on best practices in student health care.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support school operations and student well-being.
