About The Position

The Texas Health LVN Residency Program is a comprehensive, evidence-based onboarding program with a 15-month employment commitment that offers new LVNs an exciting opportunity to gain the experience, judgment, skills, and confidence to successfully navigate the complexity of hospital life. Integrated into a hospital’s education structure, the program includes a guided clinical experience with an instructor-led core curriculum, a formal mentoring program, informative debriefing/self-care sessions, and supportive 360-degree evaluations. Residents will participate in learning experiences on their selected home units and rotate/cross-train through other departments to gain expanded nursing experience vital to complex patient care.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program required.
Acceptance into THR residency program required.
LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse upon hire required.
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required.

Nice To Haves

Graduated within the last 12 months preferred.
Less than one-year experience at the time the residency begins preferred.
Have not previously completed a THR nursing residency preferred.

Responsibilities

Participate in a guided clinical experience with an instructor-led core curriculum.
Engage in a formal mentoring program.
Attend informative debriefing/self-care sessions.
Participate in supportive 360-degree evaluations.
Gain expanded nursing experience by rotating/cross-training through other departments.
Provide patient care on the Renal Transplant unit, which includes patients on Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, and kidney transplant patients.
Work rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as required upon completion of the residency.
