About The Position

Responsible for direct patient care and assisting Physicians/Physician Assistant. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize clinical services and conveys a positive image of the clinic. Performs the listed duties and related work as required or requested by the Nursing Supervisor or Physician/Physician Assistant.

Requirements

High school diploma; some college preferred.
CPR certification and appropriate certificates.
At least one year of experience working in the health field; cardiology experience preferred.
Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
Ability to use appropriate body mechanics when transferring patients and helping them with walking, dressing, and similar activities.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies.

Responsibilities

Triage walk-in patients without appointments who have a symptom or medical complaint.
Refill patient medications with pharmacies and in the office as needed.
Answer patients’ questions about medications, lab results, and procedure or treatment instructions.
Help patients with the Patient Assistance program.
Register patients with Coag-U-Check home monitoring systems regarding their PT/INR results.
Apply 24-hour Holter monitors, remove them the following day, scan them, provide monitor reports to the physician for interpretation, type the physician’s interpretation, and obtain the physician’s signature on the final report.
Register patients for 30-day event monitoring and instruct them on monitor application.
Assist in maintaining patient files, records, and other information to contribute to accurate data gathering.
Schedule procedures.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Practice and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Perform related work as required or requested by the Nursing Supervisor or Physician/Physician Assistant.
