The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) supports adult and child/youth behavioral health needs across assigned programs and work locations, including primary care, substance use disorder treatment (Outpatient Based Opioid Treatment and Ambulatory Detox), and outpatient behavioral health. Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the LVN works with psychiatric providers, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and the nursing team to maintain clinic flow and timely appointments. Duties include assisting with medication refills, health-related education, medication administration, phlebotomy, and provider-ordered laboratory testing. Additional duties may include genetic testing, taking vital signs, urine drug screening, and pregnancy testing. The LVN provides care in accordance with professional, legal, and ethical nursing standards. The role provides healthcare and medication training and education across programs, processes prior authorization requests, and responds to inquiries from the onsite pharmacy. The LVN responds to medical concerns, assesses and gathers information, escalates concerns when appropriate, triages telephone inquiries, and reviews laboratory results daily, promptly notifying prescribers of abnormal results. Thorough and timely documentation and effective problem-solving are required. For long-acting injectable antipsychotics, the LVN submits insurer prior authorization requests within three business days when required, submits eligible Patient Assistance Program applications within three business days when medication is not covered by another pay source, and schedules and administers injections as ordered in the Living Room setting and, as needed, in behavioral health clinics. The LVN staffs cases with prescribers when necessary and documents services accurately and promptly. The position is based at 1515 Heritage Drive in McKinney, Texas, and is full-time. It requires a Texas LVN license, graduation from an accredited nursing school, current CPR certification, and a valid Texas driver license with a good driving record. One year of nursing experience is highly preferred; experience with diverse behavioral health populations and the ability to learn may be considered if that experience requirement is not met. Outpatient psychiatric or primary care experience is highly preferred.
