About The Position

Person Memorial Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct patient care in its Employee Health clinic. Under the supervision and delegation of a registered nurse, the LPN works within applicable scope and standards of practice, contributes to patient assessment and care planning, carries out care interventions, and supports patients’ physical and emotional well-being. The role also includes clinic scheduling and insurance re-authorizations. The position is PRN.

Requirements

Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.
Active North Carolina RN license (single state) or compact license required; relocating employees must update licensure to the new Primary State of Residence before employment begins.
Current LPN/PN authorization to practice in North Carolina.
BCLS certification within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits, and healthcare backgrounds.

Responsibilities

Collect patient data to support assessment and analysis by an RN.
Perform plan-of-care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
Administer medication as appropriate.
Document care provided.
Assist the RN with developing the plan of care.
Help patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Monitor, document, and communicate patients’ status and reactions to interventions with the RN, physician, patient, and families.
Advocate for patients’ physical and emotional well-being.
Schedule appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
Obtain insurance re-authorizations for testing and scheduled procedures as requested.
Attend clinic meetings.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Report incidents, hazards, and drug interactions, and initiate appropriate action.
Complete safety instructional programs.
Assist other team members when time permits.
