About The Position

The Animal Cardiology Center (TACC) is New York City’s leading veterinary cardiology-only practice, serving dogs and cats. Led by board-certified veterinary cardiologist Dr. Justin Carlson, the specialty team focuses on advanced cardiac care with cutting-edge diagnostics and personalized treatment. TACC is seeking an experienced and compassionate Licensed Veterinary Technician interested in specialty practice. The team consists of inspired veterinary professionals practicing modern medicine in a state-of-the-art, collaborative environment. TACC's facility provides the necessary tools, technology, and support for success and growth, aiming to transform the veterinary profession's culture from burnout to a healthier state. This role offers an opportunity to expand clinical skills in a unique specialty setting. The Licensed Veterinary Technician is a vital member of the practice management team, requiring organization, professionalism, efficient communication, and teamwork with veterinarians and staff. The position ensures accurate, efficient, and timely completion of daily clinical duties and responsibilities, facilitating communication between doctors, the practice manager, and clinical team members. In addition to traditional duties, the role involves advanced history taking, advanced imaging (including Echocardiograms), conducting physical examinations and patient assessments, and rounding with doctors on cases using cardiology knowledge. Compassionate patient care is paramount. Interested technicians may have the opportunity to train under the Cardiologist and join the mobile TACC team.

Requirements

  • Licensed in NY State
  • An affinity for animals
  • 2+ years’ experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong people and organizational skills
  • Ability to resolve conflict
  • Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited college or university
  • Comfortable working with all types of animals
  • Ability to lift 40lbs
  • Capable of moving patients from carrier/floor to exam table
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise effectively by being organized and professional.
  • Communicate efficiently and work well with veterinarians and other team members.
  • Ensure accurate, efficient, and timely completion of daily clinical duties and responsibilities.
  • Facilitate the flow of communication between doctors, the practice manager, and clinical team members.
  • Perform all duties of a licensed veterinary technician.
  • Participate in advanced history taking.
  • Participate in advanced imaging, including Echocardiograms.
  • Conduct physical examinations and patient assessments.
  • Round with the doctor on cases using learned cardiology knowledge.
  • Provide consistently compassionate care for patients.
  • Train under the Cardiologist and join the mobile TACC team (opportunity for interested LVTs).
