About The Position

Destination Pet is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) for All Friends Animal Hospital in Norwich, CT. Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Connecticut Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) state license.
  • Experience in anesthesia and analgesia, including full IV catheterization, multimodal pain management, induction, and advanced monitoring/recovery.
  • Experience in dentistry, including full-mouth dental radiography, charting, and periodontal therapy.
  • Proficiency in diagnostics, including high-quality radiography/positioning, in-house lab analysis, microscope use for cytology, and sample collection.
  • Skills in nursing and triage, including critical patient monitoring, advanced wound care, and managing catheters/feeding tubes.
  • Experience in patient care, including understanding patient needs, patient restraint, vaccines and preventive care, administering injections (SQ, IM, IV), medication administration, client communication, record keeping and follow-up phone calls.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full IV catheterization, multimodal pain management, induction, and advanced monitoring/recovery.
  • Conduct full-mouth dental radiography, charting, and periodontal therapy (per DVM direction).
  • Perform high-quality radiography/positioning, in-house lab analysis, microscope use for cytology, and sample collection.
  • Provide critical patient monitoring, advanced wound care, and manage catheters/feeding tubes.
  • Lead technician appointments and team huddles.
  • Mentor assistants and externs.
  • Understand patient needs and perform patient restraint.
  • Administer vaccines and preventive care.
  • Administer injections (SQ, IM, IV).
  • Administer medications.
  • Communicate with clients.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping.
  • Conduct follow-up phone calls.
