About The Position

Companion Animal Clinic is seeking an experienced Full-Time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join their team. This established 5-doctor practice focuses on practicing Gold Standard Medicine and supports its technicians with a collaborative hospital culture, strong utilization, excellent benefits, and opportunities for professional growth. The ideal candidate is confident in surgery, dentistry, anesthesia monitoring, managing a busy treatment flow, and client communication. Requirements

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in Virginia preferred, or RVT/LVT/CVT currently licensed in another state with the ability to transfer licensure to Virginia within 6 months or less
  • Strong experience in surgery, anesthesia monitoring, dentistry, and treatment flow preferred
  • Confident client communication skills and ability to multitask in a busy hospital setting
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical procedures, terminology, and patient care standards
  • Ability to compassionately handle and restrain animals, including fearful or stressed patients
  • Proficiency with veterinary software and medical documentation
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with patient exams, diagnostics, treatments, surgeries, and dental procedures while maintaining efficient workflow throughout the hospital
  • Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgical and dental procedures
  • Support dentistry procedures including dental cleanings, dental radiographs, anesthesia monitoring, and patient recovery
  • Provide attentive nursing care for hospitalized and recovering patients including medication administration, monitoring, IV catheter placement, and fluid therapy
  • Perform venipuncture and collect diagnostic samples for laboratory testing
  • Operate diagnostic equipment including digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound support, and in-house laboratory analyzers
  • Maintain accurate medical records, treatment logs, and patient documentation
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding treatment plans, patient updates, medications, and post-operative care
  • Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care and maintain a positive hospital culture
  • Support and mentor veterinary assistants and newer team members when needed
