About The Position

Farmington Veterinary Hospital is hiring a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician to provide skilled care to patients and exceptional service to clients. The role supports veterinarians with patient care and technical procedures, while helping ensure a clean, safe, and well-prepared hospital environment. The hospital provides companion-animal medical, surgical, and dental care, emphasizing compassionate, personalized treatment and strong relationships with pets and their families. The schedule offers four 10-hour shifts per week, with shifts starting as early as 7:30 AM and ending as late as 8:00 PM. Flexible scheduling is available, and rotating Saturdays are required. Salary is $23–$25 per hour, determined by the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.

Requirements

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification in New York is required.
Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
Knowledge of common disease states and ability to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

Support veterinarians with patient care, examinations, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
Safely handle and restrain animals with compassion.
Communicate clearly with clients, including providing care instructions and status updates.
Perform technical duties such as laboratory work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medication dispensing.
Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
