Licensed Security Guard
About The Position
The Licensed Security Guard helps maintain a safe and welcoming environment for customers, employees, and vendors at Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The role involves patrolling assigned areas or maintaining a fixed post, monitoring activity and security systems, responding to incidents, documenting observations, supporting loss prevention, and providing professional customer service. Duties may vary based on site needs. The guard is expected to be reliable, punctual, professional, and proactive throughout the shift, arrive in full uniform, and follow safety, training, and compliance requirements.
Requirements
- State Guard license is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum 3–6 months of prior experience in loss prevention, life safety, CCTV systems, or access computer systems.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to remain alert and respond calmly in emergencies.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions.
- Ability to write clear and accurate reports.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Willingness to submit to a background check and drug screen; employment offer is contingent on successful completion of a background investigation.

Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas or maintain a fixed post to monitor activity.
- Control access points and manage pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
- Identify and report suspicious activity, incidents, and safety concerns.
- Respond to alarms, emergencies, and on-site incidents.
- Monitor CCTV cameras and security systems.
- Complete daily activity logs, incident reports, and required documentation.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings at all times.
- Follow post orders, company policies, and safety procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of emergency response protocols.
- Inspect property for safety risks, including fire hazards and equipment issues.
- Support loss prevention and recommend safety improvements.
- Greet and assist customers, employees, and visitors professionally.
- Provide directions and support as needed, maintaining a visible and approachable presence.
- Arrive on time in full uniform, remain engaged and proactive during the shift, and follow all safety, training, and compliance requirements.
