About The Position

This position oversees psychological services that support inmate treatment, safety, and adjustment to daily living, social interaction, and work in a correctional setting. Responsibilities focus on supervising a psychological staff, evaluating services’ effectiveness, and ensuring operations comply with required policies and standards. As a Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections, you will perform the following duties: Professional Staff Supervision: Direct, oversee, evaluate, and participate in clinical services provided by a masters-level psychological services staff Program Development: Create, manage, and implement new and revised psychological services programs including counseling programs to support inmates’ adjustment and treatment Administrative Management: Develop and integrate PA DOC policies and procedures; lead key institutional committees related to mental health and crisis response Clinical Standards Compliance: Set competencies and privileges of specialist and associate staff; ensure all work aligns with accreditation standards for the provision of psychological services Consultation Services: Provide professional advice and guidance to help the program development and staff training of the institution’s teams support effective treatment for mental health issues Expert Reporting: Review and interpret preliminary, comprehensive, and diagnostic psychological tests; update medical profiles; and testify as an expert witness when needed

Requirements

  • One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or Psychologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities or behavioral dysfunction.
  • Possess a valid license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board. Applicants with out-of-state licensure must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
