About The Position

BHDD-OIDD is part of the state's behavioral health and developmental disabilities agency, providing services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health conditions and substance use disorders through a wholistic, streamlined and coordinated approach. OIDD assists in the planning, developing, coordinating, and funding services for South Carolinians with the severe, lifelong disabilities of intellectual disability and related disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury and similar disability. This position is located at Coastal Regional Center, in Summerville, SC.

Requirements

  • Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D or Psy.D), Developmental Pediatrician, or Licensed Psycho-Educational Specialist (LPES) with at least two (2) years of specialized experience with license to practice in the State of SC or be a LPES as defined by the SC Department of LLR.
  • A valid Drivers License in good standing.

Nice To Haves

  • Training and experience with various evaluation and screening measures-cognitive, adaptive, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD),etc.
  • Current working knowledge/understanding of ASD and specific experience, training, and specialization in ASD services.
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written, and the ability to work cooperatively with families, professionals, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Complete review of referrals submitted for BHDD-OIDD Eligibility.
  • Complete/conduct Autism Spectrum Disorder screenings/assessments, diagnostic and cognitive assessments, record reviews, and staffing of cases that are diagnostically complex or challenging.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments/testing reports of individuals seeking ASD OIDD eligibility.
  • Submit completed resolution reports within ten (10) business days.
  • Proactively research and engage in educational opportunities and skill-building activities to foster personal and professional growth.
  • Participate as a team member and provide back-up assistance to other staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
