About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse in the Pediatrics Clinic receives patients, determines their needs, and directs them accordingly. The role provides ambulatory health care, maintains exam rooms and nurses’ stations, and supports patient care and clinic operations. The position requires either a Practical Nursing degree or a Medical Assistant degree, along with either a Louisiana LPN license or Certified Medical Assistant credential.

Requirements

Must have either a Practical Nursing degree or a Medical Assistant degree.
Must be either a Louisiana licensed LPN or a Certified Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

Plan and manage patient care according to each patient’s needs.
Interview patients and record their medical history and physical condition.
Obtain patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration.
Provide routine patient care and observe patients’ health.
Review medical charts.
Communicate with patients and their families.
Prepare and administer injections.
Assist with patient comfort.
Maintain medical supplies inventory and perform preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.
Transmit physician orders and medication refill requests to pharmacies, and submit progress notes to insurance for prior authorizations.
Schedule procedures and imaging, verify appointment times with patients, and prepare charts, pre-admission forms, and consent forms.
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
Monitor supplies, notify the manager when stock is low, and verify receipt of supplies.
Follow professional standards, facility policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements.
Answer phone calls and return calls in a timely manner.
Stock and maintain exam rooms and nurses’ stations.
