Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Long Term Care
About The Position
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the team at Windermere Care Centre in Vancouver, BC. This role is part of the provincial implementation of minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs), an initiative focused on enhancing nursing practice and improving the quality of care. As an LPN at VCH, you will work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary care team. You will perform the full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes in a designated specialty area. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting client care, as well as providing support to clients and their families. You will also support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or complex needs that exceed the scope of practice for LPNs. Maintaining and advancing clinical competence according to the standards of practice for LPNs is essential.
Requirements
- Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
Responsibilities
- Work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
- Perform full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty.
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document client care.
- Provide support to clients and their families.
- Support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Maintain and advance clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licenced Practical Nurses.
