About The Position

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Crisis Services team. In this role, you'll play an important part in supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges, working alongside a skilled and compassionate care team. Requirements

Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the Virginia State Board of Nursing
One (1) year of experience in the administration of medication or a substance abuse treatment, psychiatric setting, or long-term care facility, including the dispensing of narcotic medication.
Valid Virginia driver's license
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Comfort with electronic documentation systems
Attention to detail

Responsibilities

Assist the staff psychiatrist with medication-related care, including administration, monitoring, and documentation.
Conducting physical and mental health assessments.
Assisting with medication management (including methadone when applicable).
Monitoring overall client well-being.
Complete admissions and follow-ups.
Perform screenings such as drug and TB tests.
Maintain accurate clinical records.
Ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal of medications.
Contributing to a safe and therapeutic environment.
