About The Position
The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Crisis Services team. In this role, you'll play an important part in supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges, working alongside a skilled and compassionate care team. This position is based onsite at the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center and offers a supportive workplace culture focused on safety, collaboration, and ethical care. Requirements
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the Virginia State Board of Nursing
- One (1) year of experience in the administration of medication or a substance abuse treatment, psychiatric setting, or long-term care facility, including the dispensing of narcotic medication.
- Valid Virginia driver's license
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfort with electronic documentation systems
- Attention to detail
Responsibilities
- Assist the staff psychiatrist with medication-related care, including administration, monitoring, and documentation.
- Conducting physical and mental health assessments.
- Assisting with medication management (including methadone when applicable).
- Monitoring overall client well-being.
- Complete admissions and follow-ups.
- Perform screenings such as drug and TB tests.
- Maintain accurate clinical records.
- Ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal of medications.
- Contributing to a safe and therapeutic environment.
