About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their team at the Fayetteville Family Medical Center. This role is crucial in providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The LPN will contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for a designated group of patients. This position is ideal for individuals who are compassionate, detail-oriented, and dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced healthcare setting. Requirements

  • High School, GED, or formal educational equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing.
  • One (1) year of work experience in clinical nursing.
  • Current Arkansas Licensed Practical Nurse license.
  • Current CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of work experience in a clinical environment with direct patient care.
  • Good working knowledge of the state immunization registry, care manager.
  • PCMH experience and care management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Direct patient care within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas, UAMS policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Adhering to UAMS care guidelines.
  • Observing patients, charting, and reporting changes in patients’ conditions.
  • Providing basic care and treatment of patients.
  • Administering prescribed medications and starting intravenous fluids.
  • Measuring and recording the patient’s vital signs.
  • Assisting patients in standing, walking, bathing, dressing, and moving in bed.
  • Supervising nurses’ aides and assistants.
  • Answering patient calls and determining how to assist them.
  • Collecting samples such as blood, urine, and sputum from patients and performing routine laboratory tests on samples.
  • Cleaning rooms and making beds.
  • Inventorying and requisitioning supplies and instruments.
  • Recording food and fluid intake and output.

  • Performing related responsibilities as required or assigned.
